To be honest, I was nearly shaking when I decided to do my first party as a demonstrator. I loved everything about SU! and whenever my girls allowed me to sneak away, you would find me stamping. But then there came a time where I simply could not justify my SU! purchases in our family budget and I thought to myself it is now or never. I didn’t want to only support my hobby, but I wanted to contribute to my family’s income (and get all the cool stamping goodies in the process).
I TOOK THE PLUNGE
Literally, I took the plunge. I called friends and family and invited everyone to my first workshop and I was shaking before everyone arrived. I knew I’d do fine demonstrating my projects but could I get the first words over my lips? It sounds so simple to say “Hi everyone. I want to thank you for coming to my very first workshop as a demonstrator… (yes, that was the trouble word) DEMONSTRATOR. What makes me a demonstrator?
ONE MORNING, I BURST OUT LAUGHING
My introduction got better with each workshop that I hosted as my confidence level rose. As I said, demonstrating stamping projects is easy. I love teaching fun and spectacular techniques and haven’t met anyone yet who didn’t enjoy it. But I didn’t really consider myself a demonstrator until it hit me in the shower one morning: I had been pseudo demonstrator for years!!! What does that mean? It means that I was showing friends how to stamp before I had ever heard of Stampin’ Up! I used to pick up different stamp sets here and there and I used them with everyone. When I found out about SU! I hosted a party and ran the make and take table. A month later, I had joined my demonstrator’s stamp club and I would get there a few minutes early so she could show me what we are doing. We then split our group into two and I would run ½ of the table and she the other half. No wonder, she was trying to sign me up as a demo back then. As I realized that in the shower one morning, I was a new woman and I haven’t looked back.
I LOVE DOING WHAT I DO
There are many things that I love about being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and the part that I run my own business is the best of all.
- I pick my working hours and set my own schedule.
- I still have time to volunteer in each of my daughter’s classrooms.
- I stay home with my girls when they are out of school.
- I survey my customers and create classes and projects based on what they like to see.
- I support my family financially!
ARE YOU INTRIGUED?
Do any of these things intrigue you? Do you need flexibility in your schedule and want creativity in your work? If you can see yourself being self employed and in charge of your own direction, then give me a call. I’d love to have you on my spunky stamper team.
