Magnetic Bookmarks - the kids had a great time

Hi! Did you miss me? I can't believe I haven't posted anything new for a few days. Here is a great treat that the kids made at my Mom & Me class this morning. And these bookmarkds are really easy to make.

  1. You need a piece of cardstock that measures 9 and 1/2 " by 2". Fold it in half (or score before folding). In this case, the kids choose Barely Banana and Real Red.
  2. The Whisper White piece measures 6" by 1 and 3/4".
  3. Time to stamp. The stamp set I used is retired, but this will work really well with any animal line art stamp set. For example, Animal Crackers or Pun Fun would be awesome (they are BTW on my wish list).
  4. Once the kids decided on which animals should be on their bookmarks (this was the hardest part for some kids), they colored them with markers (I have a cup with washable markers so that they could have fun without constant parent supervision).
  5. Glue the artwork to the colored card stock backing. We used the SU! snail adhesive.
  6. Add magnetic tape (Walmart, craft isle) on both insides of the colored card stock. Now this bookmark can sandwich a page. It's really cool.
  7. The top animal will be sticking out of the book and so they got wiggly eyes.

The prep work for 7 bookmarks took me 10 minutes last night and the hardest part was selecting the paper. I went through my scraps drawers and found more than enough colored card stock to fit that size. The kids could have been done in 5 to 10 minutes had we had them at the table at the same time. This is a great activity for any kids group.

Don't have too much fun without me. T.
